Ever had a passion that you wanted to become a reality, to follow that DREAM, that IDEA and that “WHAT IF” …..well that’s exactly how ‘Cooked from Scratch’ was hatched… in a small pub in Elsternwick, Victoria on a wet afternoon with my husband Joe & my cousin (more like sister) Trudy a few glasses of wine, lots of laughter my “WHAT IF” became a concept. Fast forward 12 years and here we are today, oh what a journey it’s been but this is where the fun begins and my WHAT IF finally becoming a reality….
Cooking and sharing food, recipes ideas has always been my passion and first love. Were other people read novels and watch TV you will find me with my head buried in a recipe book, online food blogs or cooking up a feast in the kitchen trying something new to share with family friends & guests.
Quality time together, preparing a meal & being able to share that with people is what lead me to create Cooked from Scratch. The life experiences one finds at a dinning room table is nothing short of amazing. At the cooking school we are all about creating memories and experiences in a safe place where you can cook eat laugh and learn and above all have fun.

Really It’s Just Yogurt
Making yogurt with this little powerhouse that costs less than 1.20 per litre to make. From labneh, dips, flat bread, eastern marinated lamb and vegetables to beautiful dessert all made with yogurt and easily and quickly make at home. Coconut yogurt which is always a favorite.
Tapas & Paella
Tapas and paella who doesn’t love it, we will be creating 4 seasonal tapas dishes and an authentic seafood chicken & chorizo paella (depending on any food allergies that we can cater to). Come learn how to make some wonderful Spanish morsels and finish with a wonderfully fragrant Spanish paella & sangria. Great for groups
Darling Dumplings -Asian Style
Ever wanted to make your own dumplings, tasty little morsels from filled buns, gyozas, pot stickers that can steamed boiled, pan fried using both store & homemade dough with dipping sauces to accompany them. Finishing the class with an Asian banquet using dumplings sauces we have created and a variety of Asian tapas dishes.
Wild Fermentation 101
Learn how to make Kraut, Kimchi, and Beetroot kavas and fruit shrub’s that are the latest addition to the gin world. Take home a fermentation jar of your hand made kraut that you decide the flavor to start you on your fermenting journey. We will finish with a vegetarian lunch and samples of wild fermented krauts and kimchi. Do your tummy a favor and put some good probiotics in it
Middle Eastern Feast
After living in Saudi Arabia Lizzie has some amazing recipes to share from her time there. A shared feast that can easily be transfer to your own kitchen and shared with loved ones. Dishes will include hummus manakeesh, foul meddamas, falafel quinoa tabouleh moutabal / baba ghanoush kofta fattoush flat breads to name a few. Sounds a mouth full but what a tasty one !
Have you ever picked up a packet of crackers and though I could make that…well you sure can and they taste so much better. With a few ingredients and a little know how we will have crackers you will be proud off. This class includes nibbles & itti bitti bites for making your cheese and nibble boards wow. Great afternoon class with a glass of bubbles
Dairy free Cheese & Creams
Not everyone can tolerate dairy cheeses in there diet. Plant based cheese can be just as wonderful as its dairy competitor … Nuts are the stars of these cheeses from cashew, macadamia, pine and almonds, we will also be making aquafaba cream & cheese. We will finish the class with a vegan feast using cheeses & creams we have made in class. Soul food at its best
Homemade Pasta Gnocchi & Gnudi
Who doesnt love homemade pasta gnocchi & gnudi with its beautiful textures and wonderful mouth feel. With a few simple ingredients we will have you cooking like an italian nonna and sharing wonderful meals with family & friends
